How to get to Tortuguero?
There is no way to get to Tortuguero by car.
Tortuguero can only be reached by water from La Pavona pier, near the city of Cariari or from the Moín pier in the city of Limón. It can also be reached by air from Juan Santamaría International Airport in Alajuela on one of the flights offered by the SANSA airline. CHECK FLIGHTS HERE
Whether you arrive at one of the piers in your own or rented vehicle, through a shared transportation service company or through public transportation, then you must take one of the shuttle boat services offered from either of the two piers.
There is a secure parking lot for vehicles in La Pavona, where you must pay USD$10.00 per night. Preferably in cash upon entering the parking lot. There is not a parking lot in Moin, for you to take into consideration.
It is recommended not to leave valuables inside the vehicle.

Once you get to La Pavona dock, you need to show your reservation and name to the ticket man at the entrance to the parking lot, he will led to you to the boat.
The boat will drop you off at La Baula Lodge main dock.
